Since the foot binding practice involved breaking the bones of the feet into tiny shards over time, causing those women extreme health issues, it’s not quite comparable to the sciatica, hammer toes, and bunions caused by modern foot wear. But, yes, trading one’s own health for fashion is pretty freaking crazy. (Oh, and yes, foot binding was something mothers did to their toddler daughters)
