    I sold my small herd of cattle for the first two years of college, GI Bill for the rest…debt free…my wife worked in the college , cafeteria for tuition and books and I paid her room/board while I was in the service…two debt-free educations

    You’re ignoring the fact furnituremaker put his a$$ on the line to earn the GI bill benefits. The GI bill education program is a contract ’tween the person and the Government, not a give away.

    I felt you were denigrating his Military service. The fact is, to be in the Military today is to put yourself in harms way, at any time, at the orders of your superiors, at the orders of the civilian government. I served and understood that.

    Used to be you could pay your tuition by working through college. Now you’re lucky if you can pay for your books that way.
