One thing’s for sure…soap operas can be addicting… But, then, Red’s in the late 50s to early 60s when they Were addicting. Good story-lines (for a soap), cliffhangers, good actors (for a soap), and Suspense! Take “Luke and Laura” for example… ;)

The plot lines move slowly enough that Red can watch during his next day off and not have missed too much!

The only soap opera I ever watched as a kid was Dark Shadows. Why would any kid ever want to watch a soap opera that doesn’t have witches and vampires and ghosts and curses and things? That would be boring!

I caught a young General Hospital for a while as a newly-minted teenager. Made me afraid of growing up (shuddering)

Red: 2 of the soap operas you mentioned – “All My Children” and “As The World Turns” – are no longer on TV.

When I would visit my granny In the 1960’s there were two programs that she wouldn’t miss..I’d walk in the door and the TV would have Perry Mason on, or the soap "The Secret Storm "
