If you don’t like the way the cable company treats you as a customer, unsubscribe. At the very least, threaten to unsubscribe. I’m told they get very jittery when customers say they want to unsubscribe and offer better rates.

When they also handle the internet just as well, then I will be happy to consider it. In the meantime, any deal between Comcast and TWC is going (if it is even allowed to go through) to take considerable time to affect normal cable users. Especially as both companies are so large even now. Why not just wait and see, instead of living in abject fear?

So is that your FINAL SOLUTION for the people who disagree with you? Put them in camps where they can be “reeducated”. It’s nice that you just outed yourself as exactly what you are. Adolf.

I think your reading comprehension needs some work. That or you’re responding to the wrong comment.

“There other options is not true?Maybe under a rock. A lot of the country does not have cable yet.”If you look at a map of the US, you see huge areas where there is no cable tv & no cell phone service. There’s a total population of about 10 people living in those areas. Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration, but there are far more people who don’t have cable because of the cost than there are because it simply isn’t available.Comcast & TWC don’t compete in the same markets, but creating a bigger company with more lobbying clout, isn’t likely to foster competition. If Comcast wanted to enter the markets served by TWC, they would have to pay huge franchise fees & then slug it out in the market. This is a perfect example of how big corporations & government work together at the expense of most of the people.

“Smart phones can be rigged as very good high speed data wireless modems. Not that I expect any socialists to comprehend that either.”This merger is pretty obviously anti-competitive. Comcast & TWC don’t serve the same markets, but merging is so much better for them than actually entering one another’s markets to compete for customers. And, let’s not forget that the resulting entity will be in an even stronger position to lobby at all levels of government, while squeezing out smaller rivals.“Smart phones can be rigged as very good high speed data wireless modems. Not that I expect any socialists to comprehend that either.”Wireless data speeds are pretty viable for most homes as an Internet connection, but the data caps only support modest amounts of use. I expect that to change. As more content moves to streaming, it looks like the cellcos are the real long term competitors. Comcast & TWC are likely trying to circle the wagons before that attack hits.

“Then, Jase, how do you manage to post here ? I am on the bubble, I’d love to sever the Comcast umbilical cord and tell their CEO to go to hell..”Because I get my internet service from a telecom. My community is lucky enough to have competing telecoms. I didn’t like the way Qwest treated me as a customer to the point I contacted the state Attorney General about their business practices. I did my research and switched to a locally based regional telecom. That was a going on a decade ago and I’ve been very happy with them.
