If we raised minimum wage, maybe the taxpayers wouldn’t need to subsidize workers’ salaries at Wal*Mart. Isn’t it time that employers pay their employees, rather than the US taxpayer?
It’s called “inflation” for a reason! When the minimum wage goes up so does cost of living. And wIth a $3 jump in the min. wage, inflation is going to skyrocket!
Agree. In fact, let’s make it $1000 an hour. And a burger would only cost $500. This is so easy to understand. I will assume you libs really know the truth and just don’t want to admit it. If we had another president and more jobs, wages would go up based on demand. Before Obama, everyone was making more than minimum because of the competition for workers. Forcing higher pay will just cause more people to be out of work.
In my area’s rural VERY small town economy, about $7.50 to $8 is appropriate, in most cities in America, the $10.10, based on sales volume and cost of living, is probably minimum “survival” wage.

Luckovich is actually kind of right here in his strip!!!!………..about 2% of the US populace ACTUALLY makes minimum wage, so the little dude (minimum wage) holding up that big lady (rest of the work force not earning minimum wage) is almost spot on! Although lets be real here, minimum wage workers don’t prop up the rest of the working populace. I think going to get a Big Mac is a choice, not a necessity. Time to move on yawn and get over yourselves on this issue.

It was not a living wage in the 60’s. It may have had more buying power, but it was not a living wage.
