The use of the “sightline” is periodically spotted in Nancy comics, but not too often! The first one on record in GoComics was the February 23, 1996 strip, where Nancy is “sightlining” a portrait of Fritzi on the wall. The most recent one was Feb 26 of this year (Sluggo on tree branch), and before that we have to go back to Oct 25, 2013 (door on ceiling at Oona’s place).

Ah back to the days when a penny could buy you something, a small piece of Bazooka bubble gum or a chocolate covered mint. I remember one candy store/ice cream fountain had them on the counter near the register if you chose to take your change that way.

Is Sluggo related to Snuffy Smith or Mr. Magoo? ~A penny used to make the difference between being able to buy something you wanted or needed. If a tee shirt cost $2.97 and you had only $2.96, you hoped you could find that penny on the sidewalk. ~ That 97 cents used to follow the decimal on just about everything that cost $1.97 or more. Then it was changed to .98, then .99. It was to make the buyer think they were getting a bargain.
