I should have just accepted it as a bit of British humor that I wasn’t going to understand, and gone on.
Knew it had to be something related to starvin’ Marvin but really had no idea where I had heard it. More likely the gas station that LafinLarry cited.

I can’t decide whether being very familiar with an old chain of gas stations called “Starvin’ Marvin” helped or hindered my getting this one.
