@lightenup: it’s the whole state. And if you look at a map of where various food crops are grown, and the fact that they’ve announced there will be zero water released to some of those areas… We have rain predicted on the way; it’s a start and a fervent hope.
@amaryllis2 & Jo Clear – Thanks for the info. I try to keep up with the news, but sometimes (okay, most of the time), it’s so depressing and stressful that I can’t read the details. I have a lot of respect for the people who provide our food and a lot of sympathy for animals and nature, and this drought (real or contrived) is not good all the way around. Best wishes to you!

In my yard the snow is ice encrusted, so the dogs can walk/run on it. Squirrel chasing season is always in swing.

The snow helps our dogs – really surprised the squirrel at his normally safe tree height – with the snow built up the dogs could almost reach him.

Squirrel chasing doesn’t have a season here in the PNW, it runs throughout the year..
