A retired COP using deadly force to respond to POPCORN as a “stand your ground” argument? Exactly who SHOULD now be considered as “safe and sane” concealed carry permittees" (In many areas retired police don’t NEED a permit, the authority to carry is automatic.)
Why am I NOT surprised that once again Florida is the location, with their lack of restraints on ownership and carry. As if the “blue hairs” out on the roads aren’t dangerous enough, now they’re packing heat.
btw, Just checked the “armed citizen” column in the Oct ‘13 “American Rifleman”. The number of rounds fired far exceeded the number of hits, so have to ask how many bystanders were at risk. An 83 year old using a walker had guys enter the house. One of them “watched her”, while the others burgled. This “poor little old lady with walker” then went to a drawer, got out a pistol, and chased them off. Must not have been a very observant “lookout” if an 83 year old with a walker managed to traverse the room, go to a drawer, and pull out a firearm. Does this in any way make one suspect the “viability” of the story??? IN most of the cases cited, 4-5 rounds or more are fired, and misses or wounding are the outcome. Doesn’t the NRA want people to know HOW TO SHOOT??) The tag on the column once again touts the “millions” of crimes stopped because folks (about 1 out of ten in the U.S. population were intended victims) were armed, just B.S.
I like to go see a good shot ’em up, but I prefer it if the shooting is kept to the other side of the screen. Guns in the movie, okay, guns in the theater, not okay.
52% of Americans want stricter gun laws.http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/2013/12/new-poll-shows-waning-support-for-stricter-gun-laws.htmlA sizable 89 percent of all respondents, and 75 percent of those identified as NRA members, support universal background checks for gun sales. http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/01/28/strong-majority-of-americans-nra-members-back-gun-controlBy definition, then, gun control advocates are the MAJORITY and therefore could hardly be an “uber left fringer,” whatever that is.You, on the other hand, are clearly not in the center…

I assume the shooter felt he was just exercising his Second Amendment right.

How unfortunate that conservatives want to put more regulations on votes than they do on guns.
