I’ve actually heard the term came from a tract by one of the original Marists. I know Lennin’s cadre used it a lot. A pig is a pig. Capitalist or Socialist. The ‘ism’ is just their excuse to wallow.
I understand your point and can’t disagree. We still have a tremendous amount of freedoms. Especially when compared to North Korea or even some of the ‘nicer’ hellholes out there.
Just to be devil’s advocate though, isn’t better to nip the trouble in the bud now that we’re still in early Animal Farm stages? 1984 really does start with that whole ‘some are more equal than others’ mentality.
