Joy can DIY her living room, that’s what contact paper is for. Just pick out a design and put it on the TV trays. Now she has a new TV tray to go with her worn out recliner. Duct tape the holes and worn out spots, new looking but still worn out seating. Those Grecian columns will really make the house stand out, and the neighbors move.

Try new carpet. There is a “25 Years Old with Children and Pets” pattern available.

If they could just find a style to match the aroma – early monkey house. .(There is, if course, no Tiffany lamp, not even a $9.99 Walmart faux. The reminder is just there to impress visitors. Your instinct that they never throw anything out is correct. What doesn’t sell at one of their overpriced yard sales, is kept. Remember, he manages a storage lot. One day, the owners will start to wonder why, with 50 units, never more than 37 have ever been rented at one time.)

The lamp’s probably a genuine antique and not some hokey plastic junkie thing…….it figures this is on the same list with shopping for plastic (Doric or Ionic?) porch columns. Throw out the baby, keep the wash-water, so to speak.

I have actually seen the faux Greek columns on a front porch. Just stuck there. Not attached to a roof or canopy..Quite elegant.

Throw out the Tiffany lamp. Jeez! The Episcopal cathedral downtown has a single Louis Comfort Tiffany window that is worth more than our entire church and grounds combined.

Julie IS just showing yet again their lack of taste (and using the dreaded combo (Joy + “elegance”). Of COURSE they would throw out a valuable antique (especially if it needed slight repairs as Lassie suggested.

Burl is further emphasizing their taste of reclining chairs and TV tables (although I must admit to having one of my set of prettily carved stacking tables at the side of my favorite chair).

And I DO occasionally eat a meal with my food on that when I’m alone. But this is my “multi” room (not the living room). The LR has all my paintings and an étagère with art books.
