As the owner of a handicap tag (bad foot), I sometimes wonder at some of the people I see parking in handicap spots with handicap tags. Did they get their tags just for being retired????

I tried to guess when in the PC chain, a computer would have had 8MB of RAM. I guessed 486, and the Internet says I was correct. Obviously, Roy is not referring to his PC, so what is he talking about?

Oh the security guards! I think those types (and their mental patterns) were the only co-workers who I generally always clashed with. I am sort of a free-and-easy, anything goes kind of person (and always have been). I don’t like any drama but especially I don’t like to be confined by rigid rules. My jobs have very often given me access to everything (master pass-keys) and I have used them as I felt appropriate.

There was a time when I had work crews for a whole weekend (when the building was shut down) to accomplish an upgrade on the computer room (a couple of new water-cooled Lieberts) and I had a mechanical contractor’s people, maintenance staff, and a group of electricians all working from my plans under my supervision. All the lunch places were around the neighborhood and a break for lunch would ordinarily loose me significant time, so (in my foresight, I planned ahead) and made a big pot of meat sauce and a dozen garlic bread (foil wrapped) and took dry spaghetti. At lunch time I got it all ready and served my crews, using paper plates and napkins (I think I used 1 pan for the pasta, which I washed). The men loved it and we finished on time, but –

I faced a reprimand, never to do that again.

the first thumb drive was IBM Disk on a Key™ and it indeed had 8Mbytes.

Great joke. My first Mac came with 2MB RAM and a 40 MB HD – one of the original Frog Design -style Macs with the 9" black and white screen. I still have it, and it still works!
