I’m not sure if having cheaper ideas is the wisest course of action…

So anything that results in less than 10K deaths per day should just be quietly accepted? “Government crackdown on dissidents in county X leaves 9999 dead”: no worries; less than 10K. “New disease killing 9999 per day”: why push for a cure when there are 10000 who will starve to death.

10,000 people are going to starve to death tonight, but YOU had to read comments from people complaining about something unpopular. Poor baby.

This is off track but… Older Florescent lighting was electrically noisy. Are the newer Florescent tubes less noisy?

Hoping the hype was true I was an early adopter of CFLs. I have had 2 go out in smoke and flames and have found that although they cost 5+ times as much they last about 3/4 as long. I’m not sure how much longer I can afford to be a miser.

Enjoy poisoning the environment with mercury? Spend a little more and buy LEDs.

I’m a retired Electronics Tech & spent 14 years with electromagnetic interference issues. Is the IR noise related to the 60 Hz power line frequency, I’d expect that. Enjoy the day…

And I need you to understand that the only reason anyone starts a statement like that “I need” is because psycho-babblers once upon a time installed it as a way of soft-peddling unpopular wishes. It had limited application at its height and even that has passed because no one really cares what “I need” at the moment.
