Sadly, her concern with “blood in the Water” is quite warranted, these days. With limited ‘upward mobility’ availible, those only concerned with self-advancement and self-promotion HAVE to “Drag Down” the “Old and Weak” to make a place for themselves.
I just have those little magnifier specs scattered around the house (same with boxes of tissues for allergies). Simple! I MAY decide to have Lasik or get contacts or glasses when I reach 80.
