Just to clarify, I wasn’t being overtly Political yesterday. I’m an Independent who’s not sure there’s been a “Worthy” President since Jefferson. Pikers come in ALL flavors Whig, Democrat, and Republican. The quality/caliber of People in the Senate has greatly fallen-off since direct election started. And looking at the Congresses is just Ulcer-inducingly sad.

The American Soldier has produced Miracles, both on and off the field of Battle. I was simply trying to say that THEY, the Armed Man and Women of the Nation, deserve to be doing so for LEADERS who are deserving of it.

I was one for a while.

For those unfamiliar with the term, “boxing day” refers to taking the gifts that you don’t want and putting them back in their boxes (hence boxing) to be returned to the stores.

Boxing Day to my knowledge is the day after Christmas when the Master’s family exchange positions of status with the servants. I understand that it was also done with the officers and enlisted men during the war.

In European tradition, I think “Boxing Day” originated as a reference to contributions to the church poor-box, often made just after Christmas, & then spread to mean money or other gifts (maybe boxed-up) traditionally given in that same period to specific servants or other regular hirelings.

My daughter (accustomed to throwing large parties in earlier years and with different husbands) had a quiet evening at home with a few neighbors last night (and me on Skype) for desert (I made a plate to join them) so we chatted and ate for over an hour. Her husband had chatted more with me before the guests arrived, but they were quipping that it would be possible to have an entire party with all the “guests” on various laptops.

I hope everyone had a good time, and none of the pets are actually the worse for wear.
