@ Trusted Mechanic I buy many books in charity shops and here in the UK they have what is called “gift aiding”. Whenever you donate items to a charity shop and explicitly"gift aid" it, you effectively telling the charity to claim the tax rebate on your behalf; that’s an extra 25% the charity gets. They mark the items with another sticker with uses a ref number against your name & address [so that theoretically the IRS can check against your address to see if you’re claiming the tax rebate as well].Of course, anonymous donations cannot be “gift aided”.
