    Gifts don’t have to be expensive, store bought junk the receiver doesn’t even need. Show you care by spending time and effort, not money. I give home made tokens of affection at Christmas time, which can be made over the coarse of the previous year as I have spare time.

    @Enoki:

    Just the original Yuletide…the year is coming to an end and it’s the start of a new one. Time for reflection of accomplishments (or lack thereof) and plans, plus some Bacchanalian celebration and some gift exchanging. All very pagan. And, don’t forget: Axial tilt is the reason for the season.

    If I wanted to celebrate Christ’s birth anniversary, it sure wouldn’t be in December…read your gospels and consider when shepherds would be out all night.

    That’s nice to hear Newenglandah. As for the “happy holidays” I only object when it is done to be politically correct as some companies an people do..I’m not Christian so I won’t be reading the “gosphels” over it. But, I can say Merry Christmas without getting into a philosophical conumdrum over the origins of the holiday too.

    Since you ask Night-Gaunt, yes…. Progressives are aliens from another planet bent on world conquest and destruction of the human race…..:D...PS: That is sarcasm.
