I have diligently trained our cat so that now she will wake me up any time of night when she is hungry to feed her. She learned pretty quickly actually.
If I need the cat to move I say “Excuse me, Mister Nick, but I’m afraid I have to get up now” and he’ll immediately got off of me and walk a little ways away before sitting down. very special cat. so long as you show him respect, he’ll return it. we talk to him like a human and he responds to such a degree that there’s no way he doesn’t know what we’re saying.
We had a cat named “Chow,” a silver tabby. (It was probably more like “Chao,” because she was named by some of my husband’s students from Hong Kong. They said it meant “found” in Chinese. A nice lady had driven by, given her to our four-year-old daughter and cousin, and said she’d be back tomorrow to pick her up(!) ANYhow [sorry about that], when we said her name in casual conversaton, she’d go “meow.” Also, if we said “cat” she’d meow.

One day, when I came home from work, I saw a neighborhood cat I call “cat” sitting up on a second-story railing. I said “Hi, cat!” and the cat immediately said “Meow!”
My late cat, Smokey Joe, was my “alarm cat”…Monday-Friday, he would make sure I was up in time to get ready to go to work…it’s as if he knew his food and clean litter depended on my working. Saturday…he did not bother me….Sunday…up in time for Sunday School and Church!!!
My late cat “Blackie” (1998-2010) had been a feisty feral cat until we rescued him. He then became the most loving, grateful cat we ever had. He was the ‘alpha cat’ of the neighborhood and everybody looked up to him. He had one eye, two fangs, and three kinks in his tail. He would come when I whistled!
my wife always wants me to get her something cause her excuse is all three dogs are on her and can’t move.glass of milk this cookies that on and on but when dogs are on me at least she does reciprocate
I was visiting a small zoo, where I was watching a black panther taking a nap. I said, in a friendly voice, “Meeoooww” – he opened his eyes without otherwise moving, glared at me and uttered a low ggrrrrr. I just said “nice kitty” and backed away and checked out another attraction!

We have two cats that have learned to fetch, bring the toy and give it to my husband so he can throw it again.

The cat invariably opens one eye, stretches, and skunks off my lap, with a kittens new.

Sandy has come to understand “Excuse me” when I need to get up off the couch. Then he jumps up and starts absorbing my body heat.
