You would know about inflation, Burl. You are about as inflated as you can get and not blow!

What amazes me is that they actually have food left on their plates to throw away!

Not only is “House of Sand…” not their type of movie, it’s not even in the same universe. They must have picked it up by accident, or thought it was an Annette Funicello movie.

Says the pot calling the kettle black. I’ve noted they’re all highly inflated – even Timmy.

I’ve trained the squirrels that don’t like bread crusts to trim their own.

Ma doesn’t look ninety but for one to ‘grow up in the depression’, one would have to have been born in 1923 or so

Recalling his bathroom power fan a few months back, I am sure Burl has plenty of inflation issues after he eats.

Well, I’m old enough to remember rationing meat and butter. I heard plenty about the depression though and I do save all scraps that the birds enjoy (especially healthy bread crumbs and bones) when I get back to meats it is fun to see the birds with the carcass from a turkey breast (I use other bones for stock usually, but I prefer chicken stock to turkey).

I’m sure theirs is plain white bread and Burl will get every chance at a zinger to Ma (however lame). I see they no longer have keys to their “vacation home” (me too, LOL) and they at least have phone #s for charity – will it go past that?

I think it is really thoughtful for Joy to trim the white bread crusts for the squirrels, why should Crustwood squirrels have to chew crust.

Can one of you regulars help me out here? I’m having coginitive dissonance about the premise of the strip. Where I live, anyway, the middle class suburbs are populated by effete college educated Mercedes and Beemer driving snobs, whose children are involved in way too many activities. The strip looks to me to be a representation of lower class blue collar, nay even trailer-bat culture (no offense to trailer bats)…

A not-too-nice term for lower class, mobile home dwellers – it’s meant to be symbolic as I use the term…

Burl would gladly play a “pot calling the kettle black” to make another one of his award-winning jibes on Ma at the obvious cost of being self-depracating at the same time, and even knowing it (actually!!) at the time.
