    Actually, hummingbirds do eat insects. They feed them to their young also. While their major food source is nectar for all the energy that the sugar provides, they do need a protein source.

    I have held a hummingbird feeder on my hand with my fingers sticking out so that the bird can sit on my fingertips.It is a strange feeling. Strange on several levels.
