Unfortunately, Kennedy’s idea there is antithesis to today’s Democratic Party. It’s all about what your country can do for you…as long as someone else pays for it.

The Republicans have lost all contact with reality, among other things. Men like Mark Hatfield and Everett Dirksen are gone. While Dirksen was as staunch supporter of the Civil Rights Act, AND backing Johnson on escalation of the war in Viet Nam, it showed two sides of the man, one civil, the other a hawk. (I didn’t like that second part, especially while getting shot at and blaming Johnson and like many at the time, not seeing the part Republicans like Dirksen were playing, until Nixon did everything possible to continue the profits from that war, until Ford finally ended it.

Hatfield had personal integrity also, but not so much the hawk feathers of Dirksen or Goldwater.

At least those men weren’t merely cardboard, nodding, bobble heads, doing the bidding of specific contributors, without any regard whatever for being honest, or standing by principle, be it admittedly sometimes right, and sometimes wrong.

Every one of these topics has been used by the Dems to achieve political power, vilify the GOP, and set Americans against each other. Conservatives must respond in order to keep America on track and maintain the Constitution.
