There ya go, folks! The leader of the free world and the supposed smartest President we’ve ever had with the most transparent administration America has ever had. As he said, “We’re the ones we’ve been waiting for”.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=molWTfv8TYw.Boy, talk about your disappointments…

One almost can hear Sergent Schmidt’s voice in the press room. He knew nothing, he heard nothing, he saw nothing…..^Like nearly all of our Presidents since Nixon, the candidates told us how they would change the nation for the better, and once in office, worked to secure better positions for their party and donors in upcoming elections.Candidate Obama did promise greater transparency, more bipartisanship, and many other things mentioned in previous comments. His presidency was placed upon a foundation that was not even as secure as sand, it was more like a raft in a storm made up of the failures, misjudgements, and downright malfeasance of the previous administrations and Congresses. The gov’t is still on that raft, even though it is in sight of firmer ground and the waters aren’t as rough. With some cooperation, the Congress – even without the President, could put our nation in a firmer safer position. That does not fit their goals or narrative. This president is a man who wants to be a good man, but who was given a position for which he was not prepared by the media and his party. The opposing party was ready to be against any person who won, Mr. Obama’s heritage gave them more tools with which to raise funds and opposition. There is no reason to believe the next President, whether he is R, D, white, or male will get any more cooperation from the party that doesn’t win. This is why so much more money is being diverted to the states instead of national candidates. Money that could be used to create jobs, innovation, and new technologies is being funneled to television, radio, and print in order to manipulate those who won’t take the time to educate themselves to vote on issues they do not understand. One of the things I like about GC is the presence of people who, despite their oppositions, do understand and speak well on those positions. Even the trolls, from time to time, accidentally add to the debate in the intelligently stated responses they draw from those they wish to anger. ^One thing is certain… our nation is at one of its most financial and social weak points since the depression. The gap between the rich and poor has never been greater. Our military has never been more strained. The divisions between neighbors, nationwide, have not been so obvious since the un-Civil Wars of the 1860s.To blame one person, party, or group is to maintain the status quo. Every news channel will tell you that “THOSE PEOPLE” (that party, that group, that race, that income bracket) are responsible for all of our problems and only “OUR PEOPLE” have the solution. The thoughtful among us will try to calm the rising mobs, but there are too few of us.^Virginia has its elections next Tuesday. Republicans who have shown themselves to be patriots of a far right social agenda will be running against Democrats who are the lesser of two evils. I volunteered to drive people who can’t otherwise get to the polls to their voting stations on behalf of the lesser evil as I perceive it. Once again, I’m working to elect the most moderate of two choices, voting against a group of extreme candidates because I have no better option to vote for.Sadly, but still Respectfully,C.

You starting to throw your hero, Obama, under the bus now that his popularity is slipping?

Thank you for the correction, Mr. Labe. It didn’t sound right to my ears and I should have done a search for Hogan Heroes like I thought.Sometimes the person in the middle of the road is trying to direct traffic in order to keep things moving smoothly and efficiently. It’s the drivers who are too focused on going their own way without regard that hit that person. You are right about the Dems prior to 1963, but it is now Republicans who talk secession and who are passing laws that make voting more difficult for minorities and women. Republicans are also the party that wants to ban abortion, but cut food aid, housing, and education funding that benefits children once they are born. They are the party that refuses to fix the ACA in order to help people get the kind of preventative care that educates them on how to be healthy and stay out of ERs they can’t afford and in which, they sometimes die because of their ignorance and lack of care prior to this last ditch effort. The modern Dem can be very dim, but they are not evil as you claim. The modern liberal cares more about the environment that sustains us, the children who will follow us, and quality of life of the poor and middle class than what we see coming from the modern conservatives. That side, the one that leads the conservative movement at this time, cares about freedom to conduct themselves as they wish, exploiting the environment, defining and enforcing Christian as they see them, protecting wealth and profits, and keeping firm boundaries between races and classes.I support the Dems because I am a nine issue voter, and the Dems are more likely to act on those issues than are the Republicans.Respectfully,C.
