You’re basically saying it’s alright to murder one person – let’s face it, destroying her basic identity is that – and bringing back another one everyone prefers? Point is, Mindy doesn’t exist TO make an intelligent decision about this and it needs to be made properly for her. In other words, would any of you want to have yourself mentally killed off and brought back as someone else your original self was unawares of? Not that I’m religious, but there’s a real morality issue here….
Shades of Total Recall! In that movie Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character was mindwiped for a secret mission and he came to like his new personality better than his old one!
Gotta ask you experts, is Posie, or the rest of the Ermines, still alive? If so, I could see one of them finding out about the new Mysta’s true identity and trying to make her return to “the dark side.” If they’ve all died off, it might happen with one of their associates? Just thinkin’… (Thanks in advance experts who can help with this question.)
I recently read the Posey and Mindy Ermine story. I have referred to Mindy as a “Moon Maid wannabe,” but I only meant that she imitated MM in the way she dressed. There’s no evidence Mindy wanted to be Mysta, in the sense that she hated her life and looks and would have welcomed plastic surgery. Mindy was quite vain and was convinced she was already pretty. What she wanted was to be officially recognized as pretty, by winning the Moon Maid lookalike contest. Her dad, Posey, bribed the judges to make that happen, but they named Sparkle the winner anyway. This caused Posey to murder the judges.Mindy never said she wanted to be MM. I tend to believe the transformation was forced on her, mostly because Diet has suggested that it was. Ironically Sail and Ghote gave Mindy what she wanted most, recognition and beauty, but at the expense of her mind.
As far as I understand it, Glenna/Mindy did not “want” to become Moon Maid in the sense of having her mind wiped, her personality destroyed, and her body significantly altered by plastic surgery and fake “Lunarian powers” implants. She was kidnapped, held, and forcibly altered. In effect, she was murdered.Mindy Moon Maid is much better looking and has greater potential for good in her artificially-created but nonetheless very real personality. There is absolutely no reason why she should want “Mr. Smith” (did you notice how she addressed him?) to restore the appearance (or more) of the old Glenna/Mindy Ermine. As she is now, Mindy Moon Maid is an exceedingly complex character, rich in possibilities for future story lines.
There are still a lot of loose ends flapping here. We have three remaining Munro brothers who will have it in for Smith. Melies and his lady boss are still at large, though their objective would now seem out of reach. Retik and Stellaluna still have to rebuild their own normal lives, their dream now being gone it seems. And of course the Apparatus still want the farm.
look at Diet Smiths’ eyes in panel 2 they look as cold and deep as D T’s eyes, what is cool is that they are just well placed dots that speak volumes as my friend says . maybe I’ll add and Diet Smith to my favorite super-hero list which Include Dick Tracy and Vista Bill already anyway.

all she cares about is herself and how SHE feels, not giving a damn about the OTHER lives she is affecting along the way.
junior, honeymoon, tracy, tess and the others dont need a daily reminder hanging around of what they lost all those years ago in that explosion, and having this FRAUD clinging around like a needy vine is going to do just that!
she needs to go somewhere far away and never return.. or at least take diet up on his offer to reconstruct her face, just change it from her original look and the one she has STOLEN to something completely different like i had said yesterday.
her staying around wont resolve ANYTHING… it could only lead to more heartache and agony for junior and his family… she DEFINITELY needs to go!

Old people would love to go back to their younger days and you just did!
For all intents and purposes, Mindy no longer exists. With her memories wiped, Ghote and Sail used her body as a host for Mysta’s DNA, personality and partial memory implants. Shades of Frankenstein, indeed. We don’t know what the long-term effects of Mysta’s “superimposed” DNA will be. It seems likely that the changes wrought by the many procedures performed by Ghote and Sail will be unpredictable and ongoing. Mysta does not have any of Mindy’s memories, and those eyes are clearly Lunarian, not human. The effects of the doctors’ work continue, as does their flight to the unknown.
“Maybe Staton and Curtis can put him in a story as a character named Willy Bond?”Hey, that sounds fun! Maybe Willy Bond can be Mysta/Mindy’s new squeeze, since she won’t have Junior now. Or if not her, maybe Notta or Venus? Ha!

Great resolution of a problem team Tracy. Moon Maid returns but not as Junior’s wife and Honeymoon’s mom. She is another person all together. I reckon she keeps the horns and gloves and works with Tracy as a cop or consulting detective.
I don’t know very much about plastic surgery, but it does look as if the facial bone structure (cheeks and chin, especially) between Mindy’s photo and today’s Mysta is sufficiently similar to make this transformation possible in the hands of a very skilled surgeon. Who is supposed to have done the surgery part – Sail or Ghote?
It’s taken me a few days to process all this.It looks like Mysta Mindy will have limited dealings with the Tracy family in the future. That makes sense though I have to admit I was initially a little disappointed.About her physical alterations, I don’t understand how she didn’t know her electrical powers were connected to the “ray blasters” in her gloves? Or is she hardwired now in a way that doesn’t make that connection obvious? Well, we’ll probably never know.I kinda agree with others that her genetic transformation probably isn’t over and that she’ll continue to develop moon powers. Also, great detective work by Willy007! I went back and read his Yahoo posts this afternoon, and it’s fun seeing how he put all the pieces together. The clues and hints were all there, and he solved the grand mystery no one else was able to figure out. Kudos to you, Willy! You are a super sleuth! I hope Mike names a character after you!
Somewhere in comics land, there’s a psychologist, child psychologist and a marriage counselor going to get very wealthy, indeed, from the Tracy clan. Poor Honeymoon, especially: “OK — Mom? Not Mom? BITS of Mom? Geez…”
One of the things I dislike the most about the ending is who Mysta “really” turned out to be. When you create a mystery with a solution involving a past character as the answer, it helps if the reader had a chance to guess that answer, whether we guess correctly or not. Here, a chance existed (and props to Willy007 for guessing it correctly) but only if you’d read the original story debuting Glenna/Mindy (G/M), that is, only if you’d read the story that even now 4 years later has never been reprinted (it should finally be reprinted later this year).
There was no mention up to now in this story of the character, no investigation shown of the possibility it could’ve been her. The only substantial clue of Mysta’s “true” identity was the alias she used as “Mindy” on the Wheaton Farm. Mindy, unlike most names in the strip, is a fairly normal, ordinary, one might even say bland and forgettable name (apologies to anyone named Mindy or who named their daughter Mindy). And this name is only actually used in 4 strips (I’ve counted). So there wasn’t much chance for most people to even notice. Add to that the fact that Mysta uses the alias Mindy, but the only name mentioned here in the “answer” strip is Glenna, and there’s even less chance for readers to figure it out.
