Greatly influenced by my mother, I wanted to be an artist. However, the first paragraph of a book cured me by stating that the average income of a free-lance artist was sub-poverty, and I do like to be able to eat. It is to be noted that when I read that paragraph, Picasso was still alive to keep the average income at its high level.
