Gee, I was 13 in 1960, and yes, I do weigh 25 lbs. more.

I respectfully decline to announce how old I was in 1960 on the grounds that the “home” might find me. And yes, I am both shorter and heavier than I was then. I guess that makes me “above average.”

Burl was born in 1950. Burl celebrated a birthday on October 30, 2013. Go figure.

If Aristotle were alive and reading the Dinette Set he might have something to say. Like maybe.. Those Ho Hos look pretty good!

Anyhow, now we “know” that Burl was born in 1950…. making him 63…at least for today’s strip.

I put it in quotes because in some other day’s strip, he’ll be whatever age suits Julie’s fancy at that time.Never expect continuity, consistency, or any sort of logical timeline in Crustwood.

Just enjoy it…after all, doesn’t it mean we can be whatever age we like too, while we’re here?

    I’d drink to that …but I can’t.I’m only 16 today…. :)

Let’s see… Orthotic inserts, new knees and hips, spinal fusion and laminectomy, pacemaker, dental implants, crowns, lumineers and veneers, cataracts and Lasik, hair plugs and hearing aids, eyelid lifts, tummy tuck and lap band. Dermabrasion and Botox. Cpap and Vacurect. I’ll be better than new and ready for “Are you from around here?” Look out Jerry, there’s a new gun in town!

Hmmm. The 411 for Gold’s Gym on the left of the phone, the 411 for KFC on the right: Ahhhhh, partisan politics!! What would we NOT do without ’em?!?

Joy’s shirt says Mama Cass Fashions. If I controlled Cass Eliot’s estate I’d sue for defamation.

I weigh 35 pounds LESS than I did in 1969. I was overweight at the time. Much healthier now and feel great!

25 # increase pretty much caused by high fructose corn syrup……. “It is commonly used in breads, cereals, breakfast bars, lunch meats, yogurts, soft drinks, soups, and condiments……HFCS was rapidly introduced to many processed foods and soft drinks in the U.S. from about 1975 to 1985."

I am thinner than I’ve been at any time other than my HS days. I was 120 when I was married in 59 (so my oldest son is the same age as Burl) I posted one of him doing pull-ups the other day. This was taken 2 months ago with his 2nd son. They both compete in high jumps.

So if yesterday’s and today’s strips are to be believed, I’m about six weeks older than Burt. But I suspect he has a “birthday” almost every time he dines out, in the hopes of scoring a free dessert or some discount.

I have had no need to replace anything (although I’m considering lasik in one eye) and I never had enamel on my teeth (not even baby teeth) so I’ve had a full set since my 30s (had gold and porcelain caps earlier). I’m going to dentist today to discuss a new upper (whiter to look younger). I just grabbed an avatar that shows my smile (still a little hard to see) but since I will NOT take any meds I will put off getting a facelift until I can get BP down the normal way (with no white coat syndrome).

I notice that many others my age don’t even walk well and can’t touch their toes (Burl can’t, I’m pretty sure). I can do anything that I ever could (never could kick more than waist high) and would not try high jumps but my work outs are pretty vigorous. This son at 53 was a gymnast in HS and coached his college team, still has no problems doing the marine set of pull-ups at the fair. He looks short with his son but he’s around 6’7 (his dad was 5-11, too tall for me to dance with comfortably). I’ll be looking for someone more like 5-7 (since I’m only 5’0") and today 106# (but I’ll be better when I eat some meat and cheese – around 100-115).

I’m a lot more than 25 lbs heavier than I was in 1960, but then again I was 3 years old at the time. They really don’t understand what the report refers to which just makes it funnier.

If I ever have to drop a few pounds again, I have another weapon in my arsenal with this vegetarian thing. All the gals in the dental lab were commenting about how light and slim I am (in my skinny jeans) and I’ve never met anyone there before. My belt ordered from Zappos the other night arrived while I was out, and my son-in-law Skyped as I was bringing in a few groceries. I WILL be available when my middle son calls (Texas is 1 hour later so in just a bit). Then I can make my supper.

I picked up some candy that I don’t mind giving (8) of the Butterfingers 6-packs for the cute kids and more hard candy that I can give or save for next time (depending on hours and the crowd). Chocolate should be eaten when fresh, but sugar cooked to hard crack stage lasts forever and always tastes the same.
