I don’t think a Republican-imposed requirement that members of Congress and their staff must now get their insurance on the exchanges — treating them unlike any other Americans who already have insurance through their employers and stripping them of their existing benefits — counts as “exempting.”
They would have been treated like everyone else if not for the GOP’s political grandstanding. Nor would a special provision have been required to maintain the federal government’s employer contribution at the same level it was previously.
I have VA available as a disabled vet, and I have Social Security as an “old fart”, and I have an employer provided health plan, mostly to cover my spouse, and so am not subject, via all three situations to the new ACA.
The primary purpose is to provide for those who do not have, or cannot GET health insurance. Secondly, it does offer employers a CHEAPER way to continue to cover their employees if they have over 50 employees.
It IS a complicated act and “bugs” still exist in the system, that need to be worked out. Beta testing of the computer programs didn’t find all the “gllitches” but they’re working on it.
Considering a considerable number of folks who’ve not read the act, or don’t understand what’s there, who may indeed have trouble with the complexities of a pencil sharpener, have made up their mind based on inaccurate, or basically and INTENTIONALLY FALSE information coming form the right, there DOES need to be a better information program. Coming next month the efforts are being made in most states to get people informed and “on board”.
But the repubtards are still working up their constituents by throwing monkey wrenches in their pencil sharpeners
Congress is not exempt. The cartoonist should know better, but presumably watches Fox news and has become an idiot like most of the posters here. Every group that offers health insurance is exempt from the ACA. It is for people without insurance. Congress was banned from offering normal employee insurance to its own employees, due to one of the 300 Republican amendments to the ACA, but that’s not an exemption.
" borrowing revenue against the future" Do you not know how our Monetary-Market Dichotomy works? We invent money, then loan it out (debt) to others, and charge interest upon it…ensuring that the only possible way that the principle and interest can be paid is to, wait for it, INVENT MORE MONEY. I hope your criticism extends FAR beyond the office of the POTUS.

You’d think a nationally known cartoonist would check his facts first. Congress is NOT exempt from Obamacare.

We need a constitutional amendment that says: Congress shall make no law To which Congress is exempted. Then we need to institute term limits.

Congress exempts itself from every law in the land. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were legal for Congressmen to commit murder.
