In an ideal balance between State and Federal gov’t, States are the laboratories where the Federal gov’t has an opportunity to learn best procedures and practices for a better United States and avoid the mistakes. In our actual system, lobbyists find the procedures and practices that will enable the greatest pocketing of tax dollars and then, write the legislation to their best advantage for the politicians, state and national, who are beholden to them for campaign donations. Then, with little or no reading, those “lawmakers” pass the bills.This is a bipartisan corruption of our system of gov’t and one of which the founders warned over two hundred years ago.The image presented by Ms. Benson could easily be a statement of the fiasco occurring within the Veteran’s Administration where supervisors failed to make sure the computer systems were compatible with the results that tens of thousands of veterans are waiting months, and even over a year, for they and their families to receive the benefits promised to them by the gov’t they served with honor and loyalty.Please write your legislators and remind them of their responsibilities to our veterans, our active servicemen, and the American people.Respectfully,C.
Well, when some hacker in Nigeria starts emptying your bank account and then fles to America on your passport to commit a terrorist attack it won’t be the government’s fault. After all as they told us: “The system worked!”

‘The government would need to hire people that would actually work for them to be able to do anything.Ever been to the DMV?’-Shockingly, last month I renewed my drivers’ license. I had to go in to DMV to do it, application, test (on paper), new picture, the works. I did not have an appointment.-I entered, stood in a fairly fast moving line of about eight people, was given a number and sat for a few minutes until it came up on the lighted board.-Did my vision test, wrote my check, and was given the paper test to complete. When that was done, I stood behind one person and was graded within two minutes. I then stood in another one person line for my new picture (they took two, since I blinked) and handed me my temporary license. My real one came in the mail about a week later.-My total time was about 40 minutes. Here’s the kicker: At every station, the person was friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. Every one of them smiled at me and each of the other ‘customers’ that I observed. -I also asked a related question at one of the stations and the lady immediately looked up the answer for me. I knew the DMV was improving, in large part due to improved systems, but the customer relations improvement was dramatic.

The government usually runs things smoothly and efficiently so I’m sure the exchanges will work great….
