Excellent point cap. I must say, that a mob of screaming girls has never drawn my attention. I prefer a thoughtful, caring person, and if she looks like yesterdays redhead, so much the better!

Certainly pepperoni pizza in England – can’t stand the stuff myself but it’s on every pizza menu.

Of courseHarry’s ignoring the crowd of young girl’s screaming for him. You actually think he’d pick a commoner, let alone an inferior AMERICAN, to bear the next generation of British figureheads, which is really the only reason the royals get maried? (BTW, doesn’t have a fiancee now?)

…If a UK royal who Actually Made It To " The Throne " royal ever married an American , ’twould be someone with a last name like Roosevelt . Or Gates . Vanderbilt . Rockefeller .

You have to go a LONG way back to the time before pizza was readily available in London; certainly more than forty years. We were slower to catch on to delivering it (Douglas Adams makes a joke about it in Dirk Gently), but again it has been delivered for a couple of decades. Britain has had a revolution in food over the past 15 years or so, you can eat exceptionally well, and with great variety (albeit at high expense) in Britain generally but in London in particular. At least we know that McD’s isn’t a ‘restaurant’.

Without wanting to impugn Zonker’s motives IN ANY WAY, and without knowing how old Sam is (she should be 21, as she was born in 1992, but clearly isn’t), I just wanted to point out that in order to be “underage” in the UK she would need to be no older than 15.

So far as I can remember, the last royal to marry into the nobility was Charles (Lady Diana Spencer). Both of Princess Anne’s husbands, and Prince Andrew’s and Edward’s wives, were commoners. Princess Anne’s two children are (by her choice) commoners and married to commoners. Catherine Middleton was also a commoner.

In other news, London no longer suffers from smoky “peasouper” fogs, bankers no longer wear bowler hats, and no Londoner EVER had an accent anything like that of Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins…

Just to add to my last post, if you want to eat extremely well, and inexpensively, in London in the evening, head for Brixton Market. Not even the Londoners know it that well yet (it’s “south of the river”) but the food, served from small units in a covered market, is varied, amazing, and cheap. Not coincidentally, I suspect, most of them only take cash, not plastic.

I’ve eaten in London many times and the food was always good. I suppose it wasn’t cheap, but it was good. One name that comes to mind is St Catherine’s Dock I believe, Cheshire Cat was another.
