“Because poor literacy is KEWL!”

My 11-year-old daughter is a wiz at “text talk”, but her writing papers in school are used as a template for what the teachers ARE looking for. There’s nothing wrong with using short code for texts, as long as that’s all it’s used for.

The really sad part is how many short codes are now in the dictionary therefore allowed in papers.

When you’re typing with your thumbs and you’re up against a character limit, the abbreviations make sense. I still reserve the right to look askance at their use in regular conversation or term papers, though.

When I was in the chorus of “Carousel,” the director told us to broaden our ad lib exclamations (too much “Woo!”). So I said “LOL!”

Only in rehearsal, and only once. I add this so that strangers on a comics comment board won’t think too badly of me.

And eventually pictographs on the cave walls.

I use full words, sentences, and proper capitalization when I text (which is not often).

L33t cred.

This is giving me a headache.

As I always say, “Me know how write good”.

Of course, I, too, use all traditional spellings and punctuation when I text.
