Take a present-day conversation, say about entertainment or communications or computers. Pretend you are back 50 years saying the same thing to somebody. Would they know what the heck you’re talking about? Lady Gaga? Smart phone? I-pad? Gigabytes? Laser Mouse? A president named what??

I never watched the movie “Kisses for My President,” from 1964, always meant to. Fred MacMurray and Polly Bergen? Was it originally considered a complete farce, never to happen? . It is always interesting to remember how the movies portrayed presidents. It seemed as if Henry Fonda was the popular type for a while. Recently, Morgan Fairchild — I wonder if his portrayal smoothed the way for Obama.?.I try to respect the person in office, only criticize the activities with which I disagree. It’s a job I couldn’t handle, but doesn’t every child imagine himself or herself in it?
