Their losses. (On one camping trip, Calvin didn’t understand what his father meant by cleaning a fish until they and Mom had cheese sandwiches for dinner instead.)
In our family fishing outings(when our 3 were considerably younger), I rarely got to fish, my job was to take the fish off the hook and then re-bait the hook. But, those are some of the most pleasant memories of the times spent with our children ! !
Some men do the same thing. When we first got married, my ex tried to give me instructions on how to make the bed (like his mother did it). I explained I would be happy to let HIM do it any way he wanted. Otherwise it was being done my way.
Men know what needs to be done. Women demand what they want done. Big difference. Most things women want done are NOT that important, in spite of what they think.
And, just like georgiiii eluded to, we’d love to be able to tell them to do it themselves if it’s so important to them, but men can’t get away with that like women do.
Some husband’s just does not want to work around the house look for excuses. Means the wife either has to do the work or let things go down. Means more expense latter.
I’m surprised Alix did not jump at the chance, not surprised about the others. Wally wanted peace away from screaming and arguing children.
Growing up, it was Mom who took us fishing. Dad fished, too, but I think he really preferred working in his garden.Family rule was, if you fished, you baited your own hook and cleaned your own fish.Fishing teaches a life lesson: being responsible for your own kill.Just as gardening teaches how to nurture. There is a need for both in life.(Both parents took a lais·sez faire approach to housework. It’s about tolerance and cooperation.)
Come on! Im a woman and Ive been baiting my own hook since I was like 6 or something.AND i can clean the fish. But when you fish with worms, the fish is usually to small to eat, at least where I live. But the cat is happy :)
I also expected Alix to go on the fishing trip; however, Wally seems perfectly content to be fishing by himself…a little down-time from life’s daily cares. I would only fish to quick-release. Gutting a fish just isn’t in the list of things I like to do.
But I DO start the laundry (I wouldn’t subject my worst enemy to my socks and skivvies – well, maybe my WORST enemy. IF they haven’t signed the Geneva Convention), and I take out the papers and the trash – or I don’t get no spendin’ cash!

On one hand… Val, you’ve already dealt with much more disgusting things than just putting a worm on a hook. On the other hand, go Wally.

Alix would surely be able to bait a hook, but might object to injuring either the bait or the fish.

Not all women do that. I figure if you are an adult you can see what needs to be done. Apparently men can’t.
