Voters in California don’t get to decide about other people’s civil rights. What if voters in the state of North Carolina decided that post-menopausal women couldn’t get married? In the same way, that vote would be completely invalid. You don’t get to vote on civil rights. You don’t get to single out a group of people for different treatment.
“…“The people” are too dump, too mean, too easily led into fascism to be trusted with decisions on this level. Liberals rule!”.This is not a “liberal” issue, it is a human issue and the right thing was done.
