The politicians promised that the economy would be saved by new bio-tech jobs. Oops. We have to give our money to bio-tech?

Monsanto has already patented the natural corn along with other non GMO vegetables.

A few years back, India open sourced all the information they had on the medicinal properties of many of the spices grown and used in the country. US companies were trying to patent the curative properties of spices from India. The cartoon isn’t too far from being right. What is worse is how patents are being used to stymie development of new products. Monsanto also was able to put through a law that protects them in the event one of their gmo products is found to cause problems for farmers, producers, and/or consumers.Protected from litigation in advance. Respectfully,C.

^^Jeff Merkeley’s bill is a good start, but Monsanto wants to patent oxygen and water, and if you let it cross your “fenceline” they will sue you!

SCOTUS said “natural” DNA cannot be patented, but human manipulated genes CAN be. Hmm, if they recognize that human “science” and activities can alter crop plants on a world-wide basis, when will folks recognize that those companies, and human activities also can alter climate?

my favorite person from the past; Dr. Jonas Salk, the inventor of the polio vaccination. He said something like who can patent the sun? I don’t want to get rich from patenting my product, it belongs to everyone. Monsanto is the most damaging corporation in the world. It’s crazy to patent oxygen and water! on water! in Switzerland the owner of Nestle’s says water should not be free. How can these criminals get away with doing that? This is a major reason I’m against fraking, it uses (wastes) so much water. There have been droughts and water shortages, Texas Buys water from Mexico.the next big problem will be that water is so scarce that it will cost more than oil and gas, and water will be needed by so many more.you can live long time with the inconvenience of not having oil, but only 2 weeks without water. This is NOT a partisan issue, we Have to band together to fight against this future.

It’s that “slippery slope” thing. I had a bad feeling when Pat Riley patented (trademarked?) the word “three-peat”. It got worse when Paris Hilton did the same with “It’s Hot.”

Does anyone have dibs on “Bless you”? I see a pile of money at the end of that rainbow….“Amen?” Somebody stop me!

Let this be a lesson to you: the fact that YOU don’t think that what you’ve done needs to create royalty payments does not guarantee that no one can profit from your talent. Think about the guy who didn’t patent the “Smiley Face”…..Wal-Mart would owe him for eternity….
