So, back to the Sunday strip. The only logical reference to “God’s Navy” that I could track down was the “Noah’s Ark” mythology.
That’s the legend where Noah got two animals (one of each sex) loaded onto a boat in anticipation of an evil god flooding the planet.
As I recall, it’s an interesting childrens’ fantasy story, used to show the character of Noah (who almost certainly did exist in some local business capacity).
Unfortunately, the joke still eludes me. Was Rufus the male human representative? That would seem to mean that we are all descended from him. So, maybe that was the preacher’s little joke. I still don’t know.

Trapper John, your correction to Night Gaunt is accurate. Your attitude and insulting name-calling is childish and unbecoming.
MJ Emigh also, in his effort to debunk a Biblical story, also ignored the fact that there is a flood story with it’s attendant surviving individuals in the collected history of every early civilization.
There is also proof that a large crude boat is frozen in the ice on Mt. Ararat in Tibet, made of olive wood that has been liberally smeared with pitch or tar. The ChiComs won’t allow anyone to explore up there anymore, but there are not only satellite photos, but artifacts that were recovered by earlier expeditions.
It appears that only Slim and Clovia run the garage. Years ago there was Hack and Sarge helping out but I guess they both “died” off stage so to speak when Clovia took over. Maybe Gretchen will help and eventual take over herself.
