Hope those ants don’t try to swim over to Tortie and get back on him. If possible, he should go underwater. However, he is a tortoise and not a turtle, Probably can’t swim.
Ants form a floating “raft” of worker ants with the queen and larva resting on the top. The worker ants do not drown because only their legs/feet are touching the water. When the “raft” hits land, the “raft” sends out “searching ants” to fine a safe place upon which they can begin their colony. Then they unload the queen and larva and carry them to the new home. Only then will the “raft” will begin to break down with the worker ants come off in the order of their position to land. Why I am writing this at 2:36 a.m. I have no idea!!!

I don’t think he’s swimming, I think he’s just reclining in the water…still none too probable, but who cares?
