    That’s at least as maddening.

please don’t be like my husband, when we go to my family gatherings, he takes his Nintendo DS and plays stupid games the whole time we are there. He seldom even tries to carry on a conversation, or be social. He just sits in a corner and plays. Now when we are at his childrens home he is more social but even then he will sit and watch TV or play his game and leave all the social stuff to me.

Why make the dad go if he would rather stay home? Leave him be.

I agree. If he isn’t interested in the conversation or the people, why not let him stay at home and enjoy himself? I am usually much happier visiting my family alone (even though my husband actually likes my family) because we can talk about things my husband has absolutely no interest in whatsoever.

Trouble is, too many people ‘converse’ just to hear the sound of their own voice….
