Eric Holder and Obama are not allowed by ethics rules to have much influence in ongoing investigations. Nixon and Reagan gave excellent demonstrations of why presidents shouldn’t be allowed to control the DoJ and the IRS to that extent. And a shield law would be nice, but the GOP doesn’t actually care about press freedom, so they’d filibuster it. They only like this one case because maybe it’ll stick it to Obama.
