So the point is that both: -12 cups is still roughly 3 litres/liters (for those who speak Brittish or Canadian)-and 12 cups equals 3 quarts for those who speak (U.S..)-Which is what Alex was probably trying to do, to give the metric equivalent for those who aren’t “us” (U.S., that is….lol!)-
That, and maybe it wont make that much difference since it’s water, if there’s exactly 2.83 (which is the exact equivalent to 12 cups, to the nearest hundredth) or 3 litres/liters or not… cuz it gives you some leeway as it boils….And usually if a recipe is supposed to be exact, it will emphasise that…
I’ve got an adjustable wrench that says “8 IN” on one side and “250 mm” on the other, so I have to be careful to have the proper side up when using it.
