    Reminds me of the “examination hell” I experienced when I lived in Japan. A lot of Japanese parents want their boys to go to the University of Tokyo or the two top private schools or else, and the kids feel this heavy pressure because of their parent’s expectations from a young age. The mother’s are called “education mamas,” which is virtually the same as Tiger Moms. In America we have the opposite problem with many parents who fail to inspire their kids to do their best. I think a balance on the side of promoting good study habits and discipline, plus time for personal growth and “family time” is necessary.

    unless it was biology you don’t necessarily have to be good at the nebulous field of “science” to be a doctor
