That was exactly what I thought when I was told “school will be the happiest time of your life.” That was in the late 1950’s through the 1960’s. Fortunately it wasn’t true.

No way. School wasn’t the worst time of my life, but certainly not the best. Now, my kids’school years were quite happy for me.

Looking back from retirement, college, navy and working years were all better than high school.

George, you are absolutely correct. Not only do I feel that way, I had a young lady, once ask me if she should stay in school. I told her to stay in school as long as she could and not deal with life out side school. Many years later, we met and she thanked me for the advice. She had a Master’s Degree!!!

School was the worse time in my life. At least I’m getting paid to work.

Yeah, I was told that as well. Frankly, high school was misery. College was much better. And things just went up from there.

I liked school. We didn’t have much bullying that I noticed anyway but we did have one guy who came to one reunion with his wife and kids and told us all how horrible and hateful we were and used words you shouldn’t use in mixed company – then told us he was a preacher! Needless to say, we have not heard from him since. But last year was our 50th and practically the entire class was there. They are still friends. Was also small town.

I’d hafta agree with Trilobyte; I tried to quit in my Junior year in ‘60, but good ol’ Mom explained the error of my ways !

School for me wasn’t too bad. There were some moments I could have done without, but on the whole it was fine. I haven’t gone to any reunions since I didn’t have any friends in high school. Didn’t go to college as we couldn’t afford it.
