Summer plans? Really? My mom never made any summer plans for us kids. She just said go out and play to get us out from under foot while she did the house cleaning. We just had to make our beds and at night dry the dishes. When she did our laundry, we folded our own clothes and put them away. The only summer plans that were made was when we went out of town for a 2 or 3 week vacation.
I don’t think it was ever safe to let the kids play outside alone depending on your neighborhood I guess. 40 yrs ago my brothers, sisters and I had our bikes stolen while we were riding right outside our apartment building. We moved after a police officer was stabbed on our street. That was the Bronx. We moved to a small town upstate and then my Mom didn’t worry about us outside. Aside from that Liz works now so I wouldnt have Nate stay home alone.
