How would Zonker know? He didn’t get any degrees, did he? He left to attend the tanning convention, or am I mixing things up?

GT tooka sabbatical oh, so many years ago and the strip went on hiatus. When GT returned, he jumped the characters’ storylines ahead a la Funky Winkerbean. When the strip returned, in wes the 1980’s, the characters had all graduated, got jobs and became yuppies. Except Zonker, who was basically given a diploma and kicked out. Unwilling to find work, he just latched on to any of his old friends who would give him a free place to live.

Glitter and popscile sticks? Wish my Art Degree had been half as much fun!

If I remember correctly, Zonker accidentally signed up for a class he couldn’t fail, thereby getting the last credit needed to graduate. The Sunday strip when he realized what he had done spent a couple of months on my dorm room door. I think the class was " Pots for Jocks".

As a former Art major myself I was prepared to be offended, before recollecting that GBT was an Art major. And he’s doing okay.

Garry Trudeau may get chuckles from his strip, but sadly there ARE people like that walking around right now who are absolutely clueless about the real world.

Calimesajim is referring to report issued by a Republican Committee headed by Darrell Issa. The fact that Darrell Issa issued the report, makes the fairness of it highly suspect.
