If he actually launches such an attack on anybody else, he just might find out how truly realistic such a “game” can be. Horribly and unfortunately so will his captive people!!
I get the impression that there’s no one near him (including his Chinese buddies) who dare to tell him the truth. That truth would include that he has zero chance of nuking anything outside his own country.
David, I’ve read similar analyses. This is really North Korea’s internal politics being played out in front of the rest of the world. If they weren’t a nuclear power, this might not even be front page news.
At this time at least the facts simply do not support such an extreme position as you seem too be holding here. NK does not have anywhere near enough nukes, and certainly does not have anywhere near enough reliable (with an emphasis on reliable) delivery systems to deliver the nukes, even if they had them in the first place. By the way, I live in the San Fernando Valley, and lived in this prime target area of the Cold War all during that war, and I am not even slightly afraid of NK.
What NK does have however, is enough artillery to cause great death and suffering in the capital of South Korea. But even an attack of that magnitude on that capital would result in the eventual destruction of NK (even with conventional weapons) by a very vengeful South Korea, and an almost equally vengeful (after all we do still have some 30,000 of our own soldiers in harms way in Korea) US military. A military that is far more powerful than any such military the world has ever seen (it was not our initial invasion of Iraq that failed, it was the handling of the aftermath that was mishandled). As long as NK does not use either chemical, biological or nuclear weapons neither would the rest of the world use such weapons against NK. The world does not have to. It might take some time, but even with just conventional weapons NK as a nation will just cease to exist. It is the mislead innocent of NK (especially the women and children) that I would feel sad about. But as far as “Fearless Leader” and his cronies is concerned, they could be “Drawn and Quartered” as far as I am concerned!!
