I used to sell all that crap when I was in school. They had prizes for the most sold, and I never won any. Nary a single one.I used to wonder, having spent so much time going door to door, how the heck did those winning kids sell so danged many candy bars?Of course, I found out when I got older, those were the kids whose Daddies were Bosses at Companies with lots of underlings.Yah, tell me again how this “builds character” ??

I recall one occasion where they had us selling these crappy little ball-point pens for a dollar. I distinctly recall at the time being able to buy a better pen for a dime.As an extra enticement to sell these crappy little pens, they also had us give away a free raffle ticket for a TV.So I went door to door to door to door, and didn’t sell a single pen. I finally had a brainstorm.I started selling the raffle ticket for a dollar, and if you bought the ticket, I’d give you a free pen!And … I sold one … a gazillion percent increase! It’s all in how you market the product!

I hated doing the door-to-door thing too.

Band Candy! (Just make sure it’s not cursed to make adults act like kids.)

I remember having to go door to door selling, first donuts and then hard candies for the Camp Fire Girls. Nowadays, it wouldn’t be the safest thing to have kids do.
