Funny. The left is the first to say that no right is absolute (particularly when discussing the 2nd Amendment), but when someone wants to put some reasonable restrictions on something that is at the very least arguably the taking of another life, the sky is falling.

I’m almost surprised someone’s not pushing to make abortions mandatory.

@apfelzra If you’re going to take that argument, then it’s none of society’s business what anyone does with their children. The instant you make a decision that involves another life, anything that affects that life is no longer entirely your own. Honestly, I don’t think there should be any abortions. But I also realize that ship has sailed.

That being said, it certainly should not be going-to-the-store-for-bread easy to get one. Reasonable restrictions? How about requiring parental consent? A kid can’t get Tylenol without a parent’s say-so, but we’re going to let them get a medical procedure on their own? How about banning late-term abortions?

If people are going to whine about even such things and lift abortion up as such a wonderful thing, I think we ought to do away with those enhancement penalties where a crime is committed and an unborn baby “dies” as a result. The perpetrator should be able to submit a medical bill instead.
