It makes me crazy to see Shirley not getting involved with her child’s activities. She needs to teach them how to play checkers, not just put the board in front of them and leave. This is a Teaching Moment, and Shirley is Absent. Being a mom involves education!

At my house the statement “There’s nothing to do.” would immediately turn into a Job Assignment. I only said it once, I was a fast learner, sometimes!
