There was no reason to shut down even ONE tower. Sequestration WASN’T a cut….the Gov’t was still spending as much money as LAST year. They just didn’t get more of a raise in spending that they wanted. So, if spending the same as LAST year, why the need to shut them down…?

Just another way for BHO to cause maximum pain(like not letting kids tour the White House) because in the end it’s about " revenge".

I recall when many controller’s were furloughed in the 80’s, but that must not have kept enough people from flying. Then in the 90’s terrorist’s tried and still too many fly. Even the TSA agents do the best they can to discourage people to fly the friendly skies. Now Congress will try to clip the wings. What will the next decade do?

Looks like the GOP has now come full circle in their batsh*t craziness and are blaming Democrats for making government smaller.

I’m a private pilot. And when I fly into ALO along side the big airliners in a 4-seater….the tower is kind of a NICE safety net to keep air traffic safe!

Republicans got what they wanted, now they want to blame Obama. I notice Michelle Bachmann chimed in about control towers in her district right on cue.

The way Republicans put together “sequester”, and Obama signed it, cutting personnel from all agencies, especially temporary, or reducing hours, is the only “quick” thing they can do. Contracting, especially in “defense” is totally protected from cuts at this point. As only 7 months are left in the fiscal year, all agencies have to take the whole cut in only part of the year, which means instead of the “advertised” 5% cuts, it’s actually taking at least 17% cuts for the rest of the year in most agencies.

I find it “interesting”, but hardly surprising, that all the repubtards, TEA partiers, and other radical “conservatives” don’t have a clue how government, finance, or budgets (yes Ima et al, “continuing resolutions” have ALWAYS been a “budget” that just keeps spending at previous years obligations) work. The “sequester” DOES cut even that amount. The also don’t realize the HOUSE,as in BOEHNER’S JOB, prepares the budget, it goes to the Senate, and then after “compromise” between the two, the President can sign, or veto it. Obama has been ON TIME every year to present his budget proposals to the HOUSE, and the REPUBLICANS have refused to validate a budget that makes sense. They always throw in their junk, while cutting other critical elements, that makes budget “resolution” impractical, or impossible in the Senate. THAT is why Harry Reid, hasn’t “signed off” and pushed Boehner’s idiot proposals.
