    Y’all typically is used when speaking to more than one person. In my experience only non-Southerners use it otherwise. (Roy Blount Jr. explains it better than me.)

    My father, who was from Rhode Island, used to call those orange and silver rental trailers Y’all Hauls.

    True, pscheaerer, it’s certainly acceptable in the colloquial lingo. Good point! Similarly, pcolli, I didn’t read it as for one or more, but you are right, it can read that way. Sorta like an “Abandon hope all y’all who enter here” sign over a joint which refuses to serve American beer?
