Are you ignoring the four years of the largest deficits in history? And we are moving into four more of the same.

It was actually the Secret Service that cancelled the WH tours not the POTUS. It being one of the first visible impacts of the sequester. In the coming months those effects are going to snowball everywhere from longer waits at the airports to federal aid to states drying up.

Regardless of the issue of the ‘legality’ of the Iraq War . . .There were no WMDs. There were no ties to al-Qaeda, and no association with 9/11.It ended with 4486 Americans killed and 32000+ wounded, as well as a significant “burden on U.S. veterans and their families, showing a deep social cost.” The Iraq war has cost $1.7 trillion with an additional $490 billion in benefits owed to war veterans, expenses that could grow to more than $6 trillion over the next four decades counting interest. In Iraq, the $212 billion reconstruction effort was largely a failure with most of that money spent on security or lost to waste and fraud. The war killed 134,000 Iraqi civilians and may have contributed to the deaths of as many as four times that number. For all this, today Iraq is a ‘democracy’, somewhat, and generally pro-Iranian. Oil production is back up to pre-war levels, but most of it going to China and India.Iraq war costs

Exactly! Many “conservatives” (and I use that term loosely) constantly remind us that the Democrats have not approved a budget. But it was perfectly OK to not budget for 2 wars.*It seems that it is more important to them to put a lie on paper and hand it in on time.*And before all the responses pile up, I’d like to point out that one valid definition of a lie is “a deliberate attempt to deceive”. That accurately describe a budget that omits huge expenses that will definitely be incurred.

It will take many Democratic presidents and congresses decades to fix what that nincompoop-in-chief did to this country.

Be careful who you choose to cite. Chapman was one of the few conservative writers who spoke against the Iraq invasion & was critical of Bush’s entire foreign policy. Chapman would probably say that Obama’s policies have mainly been a somewhat better executed version of the Bush policies.Chapman’s well written case against the invasion:http://www.eriposte.com/war_peace/iraq/iraq_archive_1.htm#020403Chapman’s warning of a “perpetual war”:http://articles.philly.com/2003-04-02/news/25475325_1_preventive-wars-iraq-gulf-warBTW, Champan also supports gay marriage:http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-03-15/news/chi-portmans-shift-on-gay-marriage-20130315_1_marriage-equality-shift-on-gay-marriage-portman

There is one thing consistent about our resident “ultra-conservative” posters: they know absolutely NOTHING about how either the government they hate, budgets, national security, Homeland Security, or tax codes, actually work. Depending on Rush, Ryan, or Rand (the three idiot “R’s”) they never get it right, but it doesn’t shut them up.

BTW: the White House is a National Park Service property, and the first place the Service is ABLE to cut spending under the idiocy of “sequester” is in personnel and staffing, across NPS. Thus “visitor services” dependent on staff, especially the seasonal staff that handles most interpretation and “guide services”, is the first logical, as well a practical place to cut.
