I doubt if it was the no benefits so much as the “It’s part time, but we want someone who will finish the job no matter how long it takes” part. Mom’s already know that the 10 minute job turns into a major project. Besides, with these part time jobs, they want you to stay, then they complain about how many hours you worked and cut your time the following week.
First off, she’s lookiing for the job to help pay the bills. Why would she need the benefits? Second, they’re borderline on those bills, so a part-time job would still put them ahead financially, while providing some real-world experience to go on a resume’.
